For me it all started with a simple gift. My roommate at the time had just returned from what he said was a fantastic wine adventure and gave me a bottle he had brought back. I couldn’t help but notice that he seemed to enjoy wine much more than I did. A short time later I had the good fortune of being on a trip close to wineries. Tasting wine that day opened my eyes, ears, and taste buds changing my life forever. I spent years increasing my wine knowledge through both informal tastings and structured classes. I wanted to give back and create a wine tasting experience with a twist. Thinking back over my journey to find the perfect wine: it seemed like my biggest growth came while doing blind tastings. My favorite events were simple “guess the wine” contests. I decided to take all my experiences and see if I could create a new wine tasting method that maximizes fun while providing educational opportunities.
What I came up with is the Wine2Duel concept. In its simplest form you taste two wines and then pick which you like the best. To make it fair, we want you to have as little advance knowledge about the wines being tasted as makes sense. Blind folding the taster isn’t practical but concealing the label is!
